Bad Facebook

I just uninstalled the Facebook and Instagram apps from my phone.  And I will generally write a Facebook post every once in a while, and look at the first item item in the feed, but I won't scroll down.  I'll miss some updates from friends.  But I'm really just trying to keep my mind pure, and I don't know of a way to stop Facebook from showing me memes, many of them sexual in nature.

This was the original that made me say "Enough is enough".  I reported this one, but Facebook has no place to report oversexualized inappropriate material.  So I reported as violence.  That was the best reason that I could find.  


That image is actually a deranged caption for what is a cool story.  A mother-daughter team co-piloted a commercial flight.

Yes, I may have puritan sensibilities.  Really all I ask is that I can go about my life, and follow my friends without my mind being introduced to deranged and immature sexual ideas.  Really, I don't want to see any memes or pages that I don't follow, whether they are sexual or not.  I want to opt-in rather than opt-out.  This seems to have gotten worse after Facebook decided to end their fact-checking or censorship program.

Unfortunately what I predicted came true, that if I took the time to take screenshots of this content, the algorithms would decide I am interested in it.  So there is even an increase in this content, since I started this project

Also, as I was compiling these images, I found my brain wanting to see more of the content, and I kept scrolling looking for more of it.  I believe this was more of an addiction function of the brain, rather than the physical attraction part.  And this is exactly what Facebook wants, to keep people scrolling. 

























    And on and on, and some are really more sexualized than these, I'm just too embarrassed to put them on my blog.

Remembering Jeanene

  We became family friends with Skip and Jeanene when I was a teenager, and they have been a positive influence on my life.  As I went to the funeral for Jeanene today, I was thinking of several times when she stepped up for me, and later for me and my wife. Graduation party, 1999 The first is that when I found out I was intolerant to gluten in 2002, my mom alerted me to the fact that Jeanene was also gluten-free. Why do I bring this up?

  I made a  Facebook post in April, where I shared a view of the Bible that was contrary to my tradition and faith community.  Some people may be wondering why I would want to risk embarrassing myself.  My non-Christian friends probably think I am loony, and spouting nonsense.  And my Christian friends probably think I am heretic. So this post is to explain why I did that, and why I plan to write a few more things about it. There has been nothing more important in my life than my faith.  It has shaped my mind as a child, adolescent, and adult. As I experienced life as an adult, my beliefs didn't match to reality.  And at certain points, I felt isolated even from Christians, because of my extreme outlook on life, so I knew something was wrong there as well. Chai Tea Latte

  This all started because I'm not a coffee drinker. And at work there was a Starbucks machine that had the option of chai.  And this was the only thing I would drink from the machine. But sometimes the machine displayed alerts about cleaning being needed.  And these would persist for days or weeks. So I thought that is probably not good to keep using the Starbucks machine. So if I really wanted a chai, I would start buying it from a store, that way I could be confident the machines were cleaned. Then I just have a hobby of trying things from all over.  When I was doing my gluten challenge, I would try a donut from all the shops.  (Come to find out there are way more coffee shops than donut shops) So I've been trying hot chai lattes from every shop around, and after I'd gone around 20, I started to write this blog.  So I'm putting this into Best / Good / Forgettable / Bad / Worst This whole project is really silly, because shops may use the same mix, so it'...
